NUVO Lighting 62-993 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the NUVO Hawk 62-993 wall sconce be installed in a bathroom or over a vanity?
Yes. The Hawk pivoting head sconce carries a Damp location rating and is classed as a vanity and wall fixture, so a bathroom wall or vanity area is within its rating. It is an indoor fixture only, so keep it out of open exterior locations and out of direct spray inside a shower enclosure.
2) Do I need to buy bulbs for the NUVO 62-993 Hawk sconce?
No bulbs to buy. The Hawk 62-993 uses an integrated LED board rather than a socketed lamp, drawing 15W and putting out 1190 lumens. There is no bulb base to relamp, so when the LED reaches end of life the fixture is replaced rather than re-lamped. Worth knowing if you are standardizing a building on serviceable socketed fixtures.
3) How far does the NUVO 62-993 Hawk sconce stick out from the wall?
Extension is 7.63 inches off the wall, with a 6.5 inch width and 5 inch height. That projection matters in a corridor or beside a door swing, and note the Hawk is not an ADA compliant fixture, so it is not the pick for a protruding-object-restricted egress path.
4) Will the NUVO Hawk LED sconce work on a dimmer?
It is a dimmable 120V integrated LED fixture. Because the LED driver is built in, pair it with a dimmer rated for LED loads; a 15W fixture is a very small load, so check the dimmer's minimum load if you are running only one or two on a circuit.
5) Is the NUVO Hawk sconce UL listed for commercial use?
It carries a cULus safety listing, which covers both US and Canadian installs, and the fixture is RoHS compliant. Be aware it is flagged under California Proposition 65 for lead.
6) Does the Hawk 62-993 mount to a standard wall junction box?
It is a wall mount fixture running on 120V line voltage, installed at a wall box. At 2.53 lbs it is light enough that no special structural backing is needed beyond a properly secured box.
7) What finish does the NUVO 62-993 Hawk sconce come in?
Black, and that is the only finish for part number 62-993. If you are matching other openings or rooms in a building, order against the 62-993 number to keep the black contemporary look consistent across the fleet.
