NUVO Lighting 64-111 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the NUVO 64-111 tape light kit hard-wire to a junction box or plug into an outlet?
The 64-111 Dimension Performer kit is the J-box connection version. The driver/junction box ships with the kit along with the receiver, IR remote, and one 5M reel, so it wires in at a box rather than hanging off a cord-and-plug. If the install needs a receptacle instead, you want the plug-in version of the Dimension Performer kit, not this one.
2) Can NUVO 64-111 tape light be used in a bathroom, kitchen soffit, or covered outdoor area?
Dry locations only, indoor. The 64-111 carries a dry location rating, so a shower surround, an exterior soffit, or anywhere exposed to moisture is out. Under upper cabinets, in a cove, behind a TV, or in a bedroom or gaming room is where it belongs.
3) What voltage does the NUVO Dimension Performer tape light run at, and can I put it on a standard wall dimmer?
The strip runs on 24V DC off the supplied driver, not line voltage. It is dimmable, but the dimming is done through the included controller and IR remote, which handles on/off, white and color modes, effects, and brightness. Do not feed the kit from a wall-box forward- or reverse-phase dimmer on the line side; wire the driver to an unswitched or simple switched 24V-driver feed and dim at the remote.
4) How much light does the NUVO 64-111 RGB tape light put out, and is it bright enough for task lighting?
1120 lumens total over the 16 ft run at 14W, with 80+ CRI. That works out to roughly 70 lumens per foot, which is accent and cove level output, fine for under-cabinet wash, toe kick, backlighting, or color effects in a gaming or kids room. It is not a substitute for a task-rated undercabinet fixture over a work counter.
5) Is the NUVO 64-111 tape light a selectable color temperature product or full color changing?
Both color and white, but not via a CCT switch. It is RGB plus Tunable White, so the white point and the colors are set from the IR remote, not from a field selector dial on the driver. The CCT-selectable field reads No for exactly that reason, the adjustment lives in the controller.
6) Do I have to buy mounting clips or adhesive for the NUVO Dimension Performer tape light?
No extra adhesive needed. The 16 ft reel ships with 3M tape pre-applied to the back of the strip, so it presses straight onto a clean, dry surface. Mounting method is listed as plug in tape. For a finished look under an open shelf or in a cove you would add an aluminum channel and diffuser separately, which is not part of the kit.
7) Is the NUVO 64-111 tape light safety listed for commercial and multi-family work?
The kit is cETLus listed, which covers both US and Canadian safety requirements, and it is RoHS compliant. Note that it carries a California Prop 65 notice for lead, which matters if you are specifying into a California project and have disclosure obligations.
8) Can the LEDs in the NUVO 64-111 tape light be replaced when they fail?
No, the LEDs are integrated into the strip, there is no lamp to change. Rated life is 50,000 hours, and the strip terminates in a connector rather than a socket. If a section fails, the reel gets replaced, not relamped, so for a fleet of units it is worth standardizing on one kit across the building.
9) What finish does the NUVO 64-111 tape light come in?
White is the only finish offered, with a plastic base, so the unlit strip reads light against white cabinetry or drywall coves. If the strip will be visible against a dark surface, plan on a channel to conceal it.
