NUVO Lighting 65-1103 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Will the NUVO 65-1103 strip light work on a dimmer switch?
No. The 65-1103 is non-dimmable. Wiring it to a dimmer will not give you level control and can cause flicker or premature failure. If the space needs dimming, specify a dimmable strip instead and leave this one on a standard toggle or occupancy sensor switch.
    2) Can I install this NUVO 2 ft LED strip in a parking garage or under a covered exterior walkway?
No. The 65-1103 is rated for indoor use and damp locations only, which covers things like a covered stairwell, laundry room, or basement where condensation is possible. An open parking deck or anywhere exposed to rain or blowing water needs a wet-location rated fixture.
    3) What voltage does the NUVO 2 ft connectable LED strip run on?
120V only. It is a line-voltage fixture, so it wires straight to a standard 120V branch circuit with no driver or transformer to add. If your building runs 277V on the lighting circuits, this is the wrong fixture.
    4) Do I need to buy lamps or tubes for the NUVO 65-1103 strip?
Nothing extra to order. The LEDs are integrated into the fixture, so there is no lamp base, no tube to buy, and nothing to relamp later. Rated life is 50,000 hours, at which point the whole fixture is replaced rather than serviced.
    5) How does the NUVO 65-1103 mount, and is it heavy enough to need extra support?
It is a ceiling-mount linear strip with a steel housing, and it weighs 1.07 lbs, so it hangs off standard ceiling fastening without special bracing. The body is 1.56 inches wide and 1.72 inches high, so it sits close to the deck in tight utility spaces.
    6) Is the NUVO 65-1103 LED strip safety listed for commercial buildings?
Yes, it carries a cETLus safety listing, covering both US and Canadian requirements, and the fixture is RoHS compliant. Note it also carries a California Prop 65 notice for lead.
