1) What size pipe does the Oatey 11552 galvanized ESM flashing fit?
The Oatey 11552 is built for 2 inch pipe, which on an electrical service mast job means the 2 inch conduit mast passing through the roof deck. The self-sealing collar slides down over the pipe and seals against it without caulk, so there is no sizing hardware to add.
2) Why does the Oatey 11552 ship with the collar separate from the flashing base?
On the 11552 the collar comes unattached from the flashing base specifically for electrical service mast work. The mast is already standing and terminated, so you set the base over the penetration and then slide the loose collar down the pipe to seal it. A one-piece flashing would have to be threaded over the top of the mast, which is usually not possible once the service head is on.
3) Can I use the Oatey 11552 ESM flashing on a hot-mopped or built-up roof?
No. The 11552 is not for hot-mopped or built-up roofs. The plastic base and flashing collar will not take that application, so on a BUR assembly you need a flashing rated for it instead. It also should not be painted or exposed to petroleum based products, which rules out asphalt cutback mastics and roof cements on the collar or base.
4) Do I need caulk or sealant to seal the Oatey 11552 around the mast?
No caulking is required at the pipe. The collar on the 11552 is self-sealing and grips the pipe as it slides down. Keep sealants off the collar and plastic base if they are petroleum based, and do not paint them.
