Yes. Great White with PTFE is rated for both plastic and metal threads, and the material compatibility list covers PVC, CPVC, ABS, copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel and plastics generally. That makes it a single paste for mixed-material work, for example a brass nipple into a PVC female adapter, instead of carrying separate compounds.

On gas lines it holds up to 3,000 psi from -50F to 400F. On liquids it goes to 10,000 psi from -50F to 500F. That covers water, steam, caustics and diluted acid lines, so it works for hydronic and steam service as well as ordinary domestic water threads.

Great White is a non-hardening paste with PTFE in it, so it both lubricates the threads as they draw up and fills the gaps. Tape alone gives you the PTFE but not the lubrication, and on cast or rougher threads it can shred rather than seal. The paste stays soft, which is what lets a joint come apart later without destroying the fitting. Many plumbers use the paste on metal threads and keep tape for small compression-style adapters.
