OATEY 84138 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use this cleanout in a concrete slab floor?
Yes, that is what a pipe base cleanout with a brass cover and ring is for. The ABS base cements to the 4 inch line below, the ring sets at finish floor level, and the brass cover threads in flush so it can be walked on and opened for rodding later.
2) Will this Oatey cleanout work on a PVC drain line?
No. The base is ABS, and ABS to PVC is not a solvent weld joint. For a PVC line either use the PVC version of the cleanout or transition with a mechanical coupling before the base.
3) What size is the cover on the Oatey 84138 cleanout?
A 6 inch round brass cover with a round ring. The 6 inch cover sits over the 4 inch ABS base, so the finished opening in the slab or floor needs to clear the 6 inch diameter, not just the pipe.
4) What part number do I order for the Oatey 4 inch ABS cleanout with the 6 inch brass cover?
Order Oatey model 84138. That is the complete general purpose assembly: 4 inch ABS pipe base, 6 inch brass cover, round brass ring.
5) How much does the Oatey 84138 cleanout weigh for shipping?
Listed product weight is 4 lb, with a volume of 0.147. Most of that weight is the brass cover and ring.
