OATEY 38990 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How does the Oatey 38990 mount to framing during rough-in?
It mounts with integral nailplate support brackets, so it fastens directly to the studs during rough-in before the drywall goes on. No separate bracket kit or backing block is needed to set it in the bay.
2) What part number do I order for the Oatey 2 inch metal box with rubber tailpiece?
Order Oatey manufacturer part number 38990. It is a single configuration, so there is no finish, size, or hand to specify when you place the order.
3) What is the Oatey 38990 box made of?
The body is 20 gauge steel rather than plastic, which is why it holds its shape when it is nailed into framing and takes fastening without flexing. Total shipping weight is listed at 0.25.
