1) Can Oatey X-15 bonding adhesive be used to glue PVC pipe and fittings?
No. X-15 is a sheet-bonding adhesive for flexible PVC shower pan liner, curbs and corner dams, not a pipe cement. It is explicitly not for use on PVC pipe and fittings. If you're solvent welding drain or supply pipe, you need a proper PVC pipe cement and primer instead. X-15's job is bonding liner sheet to sheet and liner to curb.
2) Will X-15 adhesive work on a CPE shower pan liner?
No, and this one matters. X-15 must not be used with chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) flexible-liner membrane. It is formulated for flexible PVC liner. Check which membrane you actually have on the job before you open the can, because CPE and PVC liner look similar rolled out on a floor. For CPE you need the adhesive the liner manufacturer specifies for CPE.
3) What temperature can you apply Oatey X-15 shower pan liner adhesive at?
The application range for X-15 is 60F to 100F. That rules out cold unconditioned slabs and unheated new construction in winter, which is the usual reason a liner seam lets go. Warm the space and the liner material into that range before bonding, and plan your seam work for the warm part of the day if the building isn't conditioned yet.
4) Is Oatey X-15 low VOC and will it pass in California?
X-15 is LO-VOC and compliant with SCAQMD Rule 1168/316A, which is the South Coast Air Quality Management District adhesive rule that California jobs and many institutional specs reference. That's the compliance line a spec writer or facilities group usually asks for on an adhesive submittal. It is made in the USA.
5) Does Oatey X-15 give enough working time to set a full shower pan liner and corner dams?
It's formulated for extended working time, which is the point of using it on a pan rather than a fast-grab cement. On a shower pan you're folding corners, setting dams and dressing the liner up the curb, and you need the adhesive still open while you do it. The solvent and resin blend is built for adhesion on sheet to sheet bonds like liner overlaps and corner dam patches.
