OATEY O31313 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Oatey 31313 come with cement, or is it just the cap and brush?
Cap and dauber only, no solvent cement. It is a replacement applicator assembly for a can you already own. The item weighs 0.05 lb and carries a 0.01 volume figure, which reflects hardware only, not a filled can.
2) Why would a plumbing contractor stock replacement dauber caps like the Oatey 31313?
On a repipe or a multi-unit job, the dauber is what fails first on a quart can. Bristles stiffen with dried cement, the brush wears short, or the cap gets dropped and cracked, and a bad dauber means an uneven cement film and a questionable joint. Keeping a few 3/4 in. daubers in the van lets you swap the applicator and keep using the cement you already opened.
