1) Can I use Oatey 31036 gray cement on CPVC hot water lines?
Yes. The Oatey 31036 heavy duty gray CPVC cement is rated for cold and hot water systems up to 200F / 93C, so it covers domestic hot water distribution as well as cold. It solvent welds CPVC pipe and fittings only, and it complies with NSF/ANSI 61 health effects requirements for potable water.
2) Can I use CPVC cement on PVC or ABS pipe?
No. The 31036 gray cement is formulated to solvent weld CPVC pipe and fittings, and that is the only material it is rated for. PVC drain and pressure lines need a PVC cement, and ABS needs an ABS cement or an ABS-to-PVC transition cement. Using a CPVC cement on the wrong resin is a joint failure waiting to happen, so match the cement to the pipe printed on the wall.
3) How cold can it be before I stop gluing CPVC with Oatey 31036?
