The Olsonite 10CT is an elongated open front seat that fits most manufacturers' elongated bowls. It measures 18.563 inches long by 14.5 inches wide, with a 5.5 inch bolt spread on the mounting holes. That 5.5 inch spread is the standard two-bolt spacing on commercial water closets, so if your bowl has two holes on 5-1/2 inch centers and an elongated rim, it lands.
2) Does the 10CT toilet seat come with a lid?
No lid. The 10CT is an open front, less cover seat, which is the configuration most commercial and institutional restrooms specify. If your facility standard calls for a closed front seat with a cover, this is not the part.
3) Can I use the 10CT on a round front toilet?
No. The 10CT is shaped for elongated bowls at 18.563 inches long. On a round front bowl it will overhang the front of the rim. You need a round front open front seat for those fixtures.
4) What does the check hinge on the Bemis 10CT actually do?
The check hinge stops the seat from travelling more than 11 degrees past vertical, so it cannot slam back against the tank or flush valve and snap the hinge posts. In high traffic public restrooms that is the failure most seats die from. The hinge itself is plastic, with 300-series stainless steel posts and pintles for corrosion resistance.
