Red Dot B228WHE-RU – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Red Dot B228WHE-RU outdoor lighting kit a two-head floodlight?
Two lamps, yes. The B228WHE-RU is a round weatherproof floodlight kit in a contemporary style, carrying two lampholders on a white die cast aluminum body. It's a weatherproof exterior fixture, so it's the type used for building-mounted area and security lighting rather than an indoor fixture.
2) What wattage can I run in the Red Dot B228WHE-RU floodlight kit?
The B228WHE-RU is rated at 150 W across its two lampholders, so size your lamps to stay inside that total. On a retrofit where the old heads were incandescent PAR floods, LED PAR lamps drop the draw well under the rating and leave headroom on the branch circuit.
3) Will a die cast aluminum floodlight hold up outdoors on a multifamily building?
Die cast aluminum is the housing material on the Red Dot B228WHE-RU, which is what makes it a weatherproof exterior floodlight rather than a damp-location-only fixture. For a property manager standardizing across a building, the white finish is a single color option, so every opening or wall mount ends up matching.
4) Does the Red Dot B228WHE-RU come in any finish other than white?
White only. The B228WHE-RU is a single model with no finish or size options behind it, so an order is just that one part number. If you need a bronze or gray exterior floodlight to match existing fixtures, it's a different Red Dot catalog number, not an option on this one.
5) Is the Red Dot B228WHE-RU floodlight sold as a single fixture or in a case pack?
Sold each. One B228WHE-RU is one complete two-lamp floodlight kit, so an order quantity of 12 gets you 12 fixtures. Useful when you're buying against a fixture count off a drawing rather than a carton quantity.
6) Can I use the Red Dot B228WHE-RU as landscape or grounds lighting?
That's the intended use. Red Dot catalogs the B228WHE-RU as landscape lighting, and the round weatherproof floodlight form is what gets aimed at walkways, parking areas, signage, and building faces. Lamps aren't part of the fixture rating, so pick beam spread on the lamp to suit the throw you need.
