1) Will the Pass & Seymour 4512 weatherproof cover fit a standard duplex receptacle?
No. The 4512 is built for Decorator-style and GFCI devices, which have a single rectangular opening, not the two round openings of a standard duplex. If the receptacle in the box is a traditional duplex, this cover will not line up with it.
2) Does the 4512 cover work on a 2-screw device box, or does it need 4-screw mounting?
Four-screw mounting only. The 4512 is designed for boxes and device plates with the 4-screw pattern, so a box prepped only for 2-screw mounting will not take it. Check the box prep before ordering.
3) Can I mount the 4512 horizontally?
No. It is a vertical-mount cover only, so the device box has to be oriented vertically. For a horizontal box you need a horizontal-configuration while-in-use cover instead.
4) Will an aluminum weatherproof cover hold up near salt air or wash-down areas?
The body is die-cast copper-free aluminum with a baked-on satin gray lacquer finish, the screws and spring covers are chrome-plated brass, and the springs are stainless steel. Copper-free aluminum plus chrome-plated brass hardware is the combination specified for corrosive and hard-use environments. For fully submerged or chemical-immersion locations you would be outside what any while-in-use cover is rated for.
5) Does the 4512 cover include the receptacle, or do I order that separately?
The cover only. The 4512 ships as a single piece (1 EA packaging) and you supply the Decorator or GFCI device and the box. Mounting screws and the gasket are part of the cover assembly.
6) What color and finish does this GFCI weatherproof cover come in?
One finish only: satin gray, from a baked-on lacquer over the cast aluminum. If you are standardizing exterior receptacles across a property, every 4512 will match, but there is no other color option on this cover.
