Net2 PaxLock is a secure wireless battery operated access control unit. Net2 PaxLock works with Paxton’s Net2 software, allowing the end user networked access control for easy management. Net2 PaxLock provides live user tracking and alarm events like door forced and door held. It includes a key override for peace of mind. Net2 PaxLock was designed to operate even if the connection to the server is lost. Allowing up to 10,000 users access rights for entry when offline.

1) Will the Paxton Net2 PaxLock fit a standard cylindrical lock prep with a 2-3/4 inch backset?
Yes. The Net2 PaxLock is a cylindrical lockset with a 70mm / 2-3/4 inch backset, which is the standard commercial backset on most 161 cylindrical preps. Installation uses the supplied template to drill the required holes, so on an existing door with a different prep you will be cutting to the template rather than dropping straight in.
2) Can the Paxton PaxLock be used on a 20 minute fire rated door?
Yes. The Net2 PaxLock is ANSI/UL 10C compliant and CAN/ULC S104 compliant for 20 minute fire doors. For anything rated above 20 minutes it is not the right unit.
3) Do I have to order the PaxLock handed for a left or right hand door?
No handing to specify. The PaxLock is field reversible, so one unit covers left and right hand openings. That matters if you are standardizing across a building and want a single part number on the shelf for every door.
4) Does the Paxton PaxLock work with my existing Schlage keys for a mechanical override?
The key override cylinder is cut to the Schlage C keyway, so it can be keyed into an existing Schlage C system by your locksmith. The override is there so the door still opens mechanically regardless of the electronics.
5) Does the PaxLock need power or cabling run to the door?
No wiring to the opening. The PaxLock runs on 4 x AA 1.5V alkaline batteries and talks to the Net2 system over 2.4GHz wireless (IEEE 802.15.4). Battery life is 20,000 operations in normal power mode and 30,000 in low power mode, with low battery alerts reported back through Net2. That makes it a practical retrofit on doors where running cable through the frame is not worth the cost.
6) What happens to the PaxLock if the network or Net2 server goes down?
It keeps working. The PaxLock was built to operate with the server connection lost and holds access rights for up to 10,000 users offline. Once the link is back, events sync to the Net2 server, which reports in real time when connected, including door forced and door held alarms.
7) Can the PaxLock be installed on an exterior door or in an unheated space?
Operating temperature is 0C to +55C (+32F to +131F), so it is not rated for sub-freezing conditions. Unheated garages, exterior doors in cold climates and walk-in cold rooms fall outside that band. Interior openings and conditioned corridors are where it belongs.
8) How far can the PaxLock be from the Net2 wireless bridge?
Optimum wireless range is 15m / 50ft on the 2.4GHz link. Plan your bridge placement around that, and remember metal frames, stairwells and masonry will cut into it, so count the real path rather than straight-line distance on a floor plan.
9) What credentials does the Paxton PaxLock read, and how many users can it hold?
It reads Paxton and EM proximity tokens. Maximum total users/tokens is 50,000. It is not handsfree compatible, so long-range hands-free readers are not an option on this unit.
10) Can I adjust how long the door stays unlocked after a valid card read?
Yes. Door open time is adjustable from 1 second to 60 seconds through Net2, so you can set a short release on an office door and a longer one on an accessible entrance. Changes made at the PC are pushed out and stored at the lock itself.
11) How do I commission a PaxLock once it is on the door?
Drill the door using the template, mount the unit, drop in the batteries, then present a pre-enrolled token to add it to the Net2 system. No cable pull, no separate controller at the door, and a trained installer can fit one in minutes.
12) Is the Paxton PaxLock quiet enough for a hotel corridor or a library?
Yes, silent operation is supported, so the unit can run without an audible beep on card read. Lever rotation is 70 degrees with the Galaxy lever design.
