PDQ 6GW02 Wide Grip Pull Trim, Dummy (Grip Pull Only)

Outside Trim for PDQ 6300 and 6400 Series Exit Devices

Exit device trim is the lever, pull, thumb latch or cylinder on the outside of a door with an exit device. It sets what someone outside can do, such as open the door freely, unlock it with a key, or open it only when the bar is locked down. People inside always leave by pushing the bar.

PDQ's 6-prefix trim is built for the 6300 Series (wide stile) and 6400 Series (narrow stile) exit devices. The line covers narrow escutcheon (6N), wide escutcheon (6W), rose lever (6S), thumb latch (6T), grip pull (6G, 6GW), pull plate (6P) and cylinder only (6C) trim, M-suffix versions for the 6300M mortise device, and the electrified 6W99 for access control.

Key Features

  • Built for PDQ 6300 and 6400 Series exit devices; the 6N, 6G and 6C also fit the narrow stile 6400 Series, and the 6T fits the 6400R and 6400V
  • Non-handed, with a simple door prep: 2-hole bolt pattern on 7" centers or 4-hole pattern on 7" x 1-3/8" centers
  • Functions include exit only, dummy, night latch, classroom, storeroom and passage, plus electrified storeroom on the 6W99 and 6WM99
  • Lever trims come in Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Orlando, Chicago and Los Angeles styles (6S rose trim: Philadelphia, Boston and Miami)
  • The 6W wide escutcheon covers existing holes when retrofitting a door
  • 6W99 electrified trim locks and unlocks from an access control system on 12 to 24 VDC or VAC, ships fail secure and changes to fail safe in the field
  • Thick door options for 2-1/2" to 2-3/4" doors or doors up to 3" (not on 6300M trim), and antimicrobial coating on the 6N, 6W, 6T, 6G and 6P

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need outside trim on a panic bar?
Outside trim is only needed when people must open the door from outside. An exit-only door can go without trim or use a blank or exit only function such as the 6N or 6P in function 01. If staff need key entry with no handle, the 6C cylinder only trim adds a key on the night latch function.

Which 6-prefix trim fits the 6300 and 6400 Series?
The 6300 Series takes the 6N, 6W, 6S, 6T, 6G, 6P and 6C, plus the electrified 6W99. The narrow stile 6400 Series takes the 6N, 6T, 6G and 6C, but the 6T does not fit the 6400C. M-suffix trims (6NM, 6WM, 6GM, 6GWM, 6CM) are for the 6300M mortise device.

What is the difference between the 6N and 6W trim?
The 6N is a narrow escutcheon sized for slim door stiles and fits both 6300 and 6400 devices. The 6W uses a wider escutcheon plate for wide stile 6300 devices and can cover existing holes on a retrofit.

PDQ 6GW02630 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the PDQ 6GW02 dummy grip pull actually do on an exit device door?
The 6GW02 is a wide grip pull with no latch retraction and no cylinder. Function 02 is dummy, so the pull is fixed: it gives someone outside something to grab and pull on a door that is otherwise not openable from the outside, and it does nothing to the exit device. People inside still leave by pushing the bar. If you need key entry from outside, a grip pull in dummy function is the wrong choice.
2) Will the PDQ 6GW grip pull trim work on a narrow stile aluminum storefront door?
The 6G grip pull fits both the wide stile 6300 Series and the narrow stile 6400 Series. The 6GW is the wide grip pull version, built for the 6300 and 6400 Series trim line. For narrow stile storefront work the trims called out are the 6N, 6T and 6G, and the 6T does not fit the 6400C. If the stile is tight, confirm the wide grip pull's footprint against your stile before committing.
3) What door prep does the PDQ 6GW02 grip pull need?
The 6-prefix trim uses a simple prep: a 2-hole bolt pattern on 7 inch centers, or a 4-hole pattern on 7 inch by 1-3/8 inch centers. It's non-handed, so you don't specify left or right hand and the same part works on either swing.
4) Should I order a dummy grip pull or a trim that actually unlocks the door?
Pick by what the outside needs to do. The 6GW02 dummy grip pull just provides a handle, nothing more. If staff need key entry with no handle, the 6C cylinder-only trim in night latch function does that. If you need a lever that retracts the latch, the line runs to classroom, storeroom and passage functions on escutcheon and rose trims, and for a door on an access control system the electrified 6W99 locks and unlocks on 12 to 24 VDC or VAC. For a true exit-only door you can skip trim entirely or use a 6N or 6P in function 01.
5) Does the PDQ 6GW02 fit the 6300M mortise exit device?
No. M-suffix trims are the ones built for the 6300M mortise device: 6NM, 6WM, 6GM, 6GWM and 6CM. For a 6300M you want the 6GWM, not the 6GW02. Note also that the thick door options are not offered on 6300M trim.
6) Which finishes does the PDQ 6GW02 come in?
Three: 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 622 flat black, and 630 satin stainless steel. Ordering is by combined part number, so satin stainless is 6GW02630 and flat black is 6GW02622. If you are matching other openings in a building, 630 is the one that lines up with typical satin stainless lever and pull hardware.
7) Is antimicrobial coating available on the PDQ grip pull trim for a healthcare corridor?
Antimicrobial coating (AM) is offered on the 6N, 6W, 6T, 6G and 6P trims, applied to tactile surfaces, and it is restricted to the 626 and 630 finishes. On the 6GW02 that means ordering it in 630 satin stainless if you want the AM option.
8) Can the 6GW02 be used on an exterior door?
A weatherized finish option is available on the 6-prefix trim in 626 and 630 only, and it is not offered on the 6C cylinder-only trim. For an exterior opening, order the 6GW02 in 630 satin stainless with the weatherized option selected.
9) Will the 6GW grip pull cover the holes left by the trim I'm taking off?
The trim in this family specifically called out for covering existing holes on a retrofit is the 6W wide escutcheon. The 6GW is a wide grip pull, not an escutcheon plate, so plan on the prep matching the 7 inch center bolt pattern rather than on hiding old holes. If the door has leftover prep from a previous lever trim, the 6W is the better pick.
