Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Blade Stop Spacer do?
The Blade Stop Spacer shims PDQ parallel arm brackets to clear a 1/2" blade stop. When a Blade Stop Spacer is used in a narrow frame application, the NFB Narrow Frame Bracket must also be used.

Which arms are for parallel arm mounting only?
PDQ lists the Extra Duty Arm, Door Saver Arm, Door Saver Hold Open Arm and Extra Duty Arm Hold Open as parallel arm (PA) applications only. The Regular Arm and Hold Open Arm can be mounted regular, top jamb or parallel arm, with a parallel arm bracket required for PA mounting.

PDQ 999022689 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the PDQ 999022 PAHO parallel arm bracket actually do?
The 999022 is the hold open parallel arm bracket for PDQ door closers. It mounts to the door face (soffit of the stop) so a closer arm can be used in a parallel arm configuration instead of regular or top jamb mounting, and it is the hold open version of that bracket. PDQ requires a parallel arm bracket whenever a Regular Arm or Hold Open Arm is mounted PA.
2) My frame has a 1/2 inch blade stop. Will the 999022 bracket still mount?
Not on its own. PDQ uses a Blade Stop Spacer to shim its parallel arm brackets out to clear a 1/2 inch blade stop, so you would order that spacer along with the bracket. And if the opening is a narrow frame as well, PDQ requires the NFB Narrow Frame Bracket with the spacer.
3) Do I need a hold open parallel arm bracket, or will a standard PA bracket work?
Pick by the arm you are installing. The 999022 is the hold open parallel arm bracket (PAHO), so it pairs with a hold open arm where you want the door to stand open at a set point. If the closer uses a plain Regular Arm with no hold open function, you want the standard parallel arm bracket instead, not the PAHO.
4) What finishes does the PDQ 999022 bracket come in, and how do I order the right one?
Four finishes: 689 Aluminum, 693 Black, 695 Duro Bronze and 696 Gold. The finish code is appended to the base number, so the aluminum bracket orders as 999022689 and the black as 999022693. Match the code to the closer body already on the door so the bracket does not stand out.
5) Does the 999022 bracket come with mounting screws?
The bracket is sold as the bracket. PDQ lists its fasteners separately: screw packs, self drilling self tapping screws, tamper resistant screws, and sex nuts and bolts for through bolting 1-3/4 inch doors. On a high traffic or abuse-prone opening, add the sex nuts and bolts so the arm load is carried through the door rather than by wood or hollow metal screws alone.
6) My PDQ closer has an Extra Duty or Door Saver arm. Do I need this bracket?
Those arms are parallel arm applications only in PDQ's listing, the Extra Duty Arm, Door Saver Arm, Door Saver Hold Open Arm and Extra Duty Arm Hold Open. The 999022 PAHO bracket is the hold open parallel arm bracket, so match it to the hold open arm you are running and confirm the bracket PDQ calls out for that specific arm style before you order.
7) Is the 999022 a genuine PDQ part or an aftermarket copy?
It is a genuine PDQ part, manufacturer part number 999022, sold as a replacement and accessory part for PDQ closers. For a property manager standardizing on PDQ closers across a building, that means the bracket matches the OEM mounting pattern of the closer it serves.
