PDQ IK3295626 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the PDQ IK3295 drawer lock come with a core and key?
No. The IK3295 ships without a core and without a key. It takes a small format interchangeable core, either 6-pin or 7-pin, and that core has to be ordered separately. For a facility already running SFIC on its door hardware, that means cabinets and drawers can be pinned into the same key system.
2) Can the IK3295 plunger lock be set so the key cannot be removed while unlocked?
Yes. The multi-purpose plunger drawer lock switches between key-retaining and non-key-retaining operation using a set screw, so you choose the behavior at install rather than ordering a different part number. Key-retaining is what you want where staff must not walk away leaving a drawer unlocked.
3) Does the plunger version of the PDQ IK drawer lock need a handing or locking direction specified?
No handing call-out on the IK3295. The only thing to specify is finish. Locking direction (IH, VH, LH, RH) applies to the IK Series deadbolt and latchbolt drawer locks, not to the plunger model, so if you are ordering those instead you need to settle the direction before you order.
4) Will a 7-pin SFIC core fit the IK3295, or do I have to use 6-pin?
Either works. The IK3295 accepts SFIC 6-pin or 7-pin cores, so a facility standardized on 7-pin can keep its masterkeying scheme intact on cabinet and drawer hardware. Cores and keys are a separate order line.
5) What finishes does the PDQ IK3295 come in, and will they match other cabinet locks in the same series?
Three finishes: 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome, ordered as IK3295622, IK3295625 and IK3295626. The rest of the PDQ IK Series cabinet locks run the same US19, US26 and US26D finish options, so a plunger lock, a drawer lock and a sliding glass door lock can be matched across a building.
6) I need a cabinet lock with a deadbolt, not a plunger. What else is in the PDQ IK Series?
The IK3295 is the plunger type. If you need a bolt, the IK Series also includes a straight drawer lock, drawer locks with a deadbolt, and drawer locks with a latchbolt, both in vertical and inverted versions, plus a sliding glass door lock. The deadbolt versions use a brass lock body; the latchbolt versions use a stainless steel bolt.
7) Is the PDQ IK3295 suitable for commercial and institutional use?
Yes, the IK3295 is a commercial-rated cabinet and drawer lock from PDQ's IK Series, intended for door hardware applications where cabinets run on the building's SFIC key system. Typical IK Series uses include wood or metal wardrobe doors, NEMA traffic light control boxes and sliding glass doors.
