1) Will the Pemko 249V threshold work on an outswing door?
No. The 249V is built for inswing openings only. The vinyl top section sits where the inswinging door face closes against it, so on an outswing door the seal is on the wrong side of the stop and you get no contact. For an outswing opening you want a saddle or offset threshold made for that swing, not the 249V.
2) Do I still need a door sweep or door shoe if I install a 249V threshold?
No, and that is the point of the profile. The adjustable vinyl top rises and lowers against the bottom of the door, so it does the sealing a sweep or shoe would normally do. One less piece on the hardware schedule and one less thing to fit to the door bottom.
3) Is the Pemko 249V approved for a fire rated door assembly?
Yes. The 249V is UL 10C positive pressure certified and listed under UL 4L10, so it can go into fire rated door assemblies that have to meet positive pressure. That is what lets it be specified on rated corridor and stair openings rather than only on exterior weather work.
