Measure the gap at the bottom of the door in a few places before ordering, because doors settle unevenly. Under 3/16 you will bind the pile against the floor and drag the door; over 5/16 the pile will not make contact and you get no seal. If your gap runs wider than 5/16, you want a deeper pile or a brush sweep with more projection, not this one.

That shallow 1/4 inch profile is why it works where a bulkier sweep would foul a closer arm sweep path or a raised threshold on the swing side.
4) Pile insert or a rubber/vinyl door sweep, which should I use on a commercial door?
Pile is the right pick when the door moves constantly and drag is the enemy. The 309 uses a pile insert, which wipes rather than squeegees, so a high-traffic office or corridor door still closes and latches without fighting the seal, and it tolerates a floor that is not dead flat. A sweep like the 309 seals the bottom of the door only. The head and the two jambs are a separate run of perimeter gasketing, and on a pair of doors the meeting stile needs an astragal.
