The PDLBRKT is a mounting bracket that repositions a Pemko PDLAA privacy door latch on frames with snap-on trim. That trim creates a backset that would otherwise throw the latch out of position, and the bracket compensates for it so the PDL sits where it needs to for proper operation. It is not a latch itself, it is the adapter that lets the latch mount correctly.
2) Will the PDLBRKT work on a Timely frame?
Yes. The bracket is made specifically for Timely or Redi-Frame frames with snap-on trim. On a conventional hollow metal frame without that snap-on trim, you do not need the bracket at all, the PDLAA latch mounts directly.
3) Do I order the PDLBRKT instead of the privacy latch, or in addition to it?

The bracket measures 2-1/4 inches by 1-11/16 inches, so you need a flat area of at least that on the trim face to land it. It is screw applied, no adhesive and no welding.
6) Can the PDLBRKT be used on wood and aluminum doors, or is it metal frame only?
Pemko lists the bracket for use with aluminum, wood, and metal doors. What drives the need for it is the frame, not the door leaf: if the frame has snap-on trim creating a backset offset, you need the bracket regardless of what the door is made of.
