Watts BR-4SCH40-PIPE10FT – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use regular PVC DWV pipe instead of Watts Brownline polypropylene for a lab drain line?
Not for chemical waste. Brownline pipe is polypropylene made specifically for acid waste service, which is what lab, hospital, and industrial drain lines carrying corrosive discharge are specified in. Standard PVC DWV is fine for sanitary waste but is not an acid waste material, and most plan specs for a lab sink or neutralization tank drain will call out PP by name.
2) Is Watts BR-4SCH40-PIPE10FT Buy American Act compliant for a federal or government job?
No. The BR-4SCH40-PIPE10FT is listed as not Buy American Act compliant, so it won't clear a BAA or Buy America domestic-content requirement on a federal, VA, or federally funded project. If your spec carries that clause, you need a domestically manufactured acid waste pipe instead.
3) Does this pipe come with fittings or couplings, or do I order those separately?
The BR-4SCH40-PIPE10FT is plain pipe only, sold as a 10 foot length. Couplings, elbows, wyes, traps, and hangers are separate line items, so build your fitting count off the isometric before you place the order rather than assuming anything ships with the pipe.
