1) Do I need anything besides the pipe to finish an acid waste drain run?
The BL-1.5SCH40-PIPE10FT is bare pipe only, 10 feet of it. A finished run also needs Blueline PP fittings in the matching 1-1/2 inch size (elbows, tees, couplings), the traps for each fixture, and hangers or supports. Plan the fitting takeoff off your isometric before ordering pipe, since acid waste fittings are system-specific and won't cross to a DWV fitting.
2) Is polypropylene acid waste pipe the right choice for a hot chemical drain, or should I use something else?
Polypropylene is the standard choice for laboratory and industrial chemical drainage and handles a wide range of acids and solvents that would attack metal or PVC. Where a drain sees sustained very high temperature discharge or aggressive solvent service beyond PP's range, the alternative material families are glass and fluoropolymer-lined systems. For ordinary lab sink, fume hood and neutralization-tank drainage at 1-1/2 inch, Blueline PP is the material the system is built around.
3) Can I use Schedule 40 Blueline pipe underground or does it need to be above ground?
Schedule 40 is the heavier of the two common acid waste wall thicknesses and is what gets specified where the pipe is buried or otherwise needs wall strength, as opposed to thinner-wall drainage pipe used only above ceiling. This part is 1-1/2 inch Schedule 40 in 10 foot lengths. Bury depth, bedding and any required protection still come off your project spec.
