Pro-Lok AO-25 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Pro-Lok EZ Slim Jim used for?
The EZ Slim Jim, Pro-Lok model AO-25, is a car opening tool. It slides down between the glass and the weatherstripping to reach the slide lock linkage inside the door, which is why it is classed as a slide lock tool rather than a long reach rod that works through the top of the door frame.
2) Slim jim or a long reach tool, which one do I need for a lockout?
Two different approaches. A slim jim like the Pro-Lok AO-25 goes inside the door panel to work the slide lock linkage directly, so it suits vehicles that still use exposed vertical lock rods. A long reach tool goes over the top of the door through a wedged gap and manipulates the interior door handle or the lock button, which is the usual method on newer vehicles with airbags and packed door cavities. Many locksmiths carry both.
3) Is the Pro-Lok EZ Slim Jim a professional tool or a consumer item?
It is catalogued for commercial use, aimed at locksmiths, roadside service, repossession and fleet operators rather than at a driver keeping one in the glovebox. Pro-Lok builds it as part of its automotive car opening line.
4) Does the Pro-Lok EZ Slim Jim come in more than one size or model?
One configuration only, model AO-25. There is no length or finish choice to specify when ordering.
