Pro-Lok K254 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How does the Pro-Lok K254 belt hook attach to a belt without unthreading it?
The K254 is a slip-on leather strap with a button closure, so it loops over a belt, a purse strap, or your wrist and buttons shut rather than requiring you to pull your belt off. The keys themselves ride on a metal spring clip, which means you can pull the keys off and leave the leather loop on the belt.
2) Can I buy Pro-Lok K254 belt hooks in bulk for a maintenance crew instead of single retail packs?
Yes. The K254 belt hook is packed three ways: retail cards with one hook per card in packs of five, a bulk bag of 12 hooks, and a multi-card holding 12 hooks. The bulk bag is what a property maintenance or facilities crew would typically order to outfit a team; the multi-card suits a locksmith shop selling them off a pegboard.
3) What size key ring comes on the Pro-Lok slip-on belt hook?
It ships with a 1 inch split key ring attached to the spring clip, which is enough for a working set of door keys or a small locksmith day ring. Larger key boards or full master sets are better carried on a dedicated key reel or ring.
4) I want keys that detach quickly at a jobsite. Does this hook let me drop the keys without taking off the loop?
That is the point of the spring clip design. The leather belt loop stays buttoned to your belt and the spring clip releases the key ring on its own, so keys can be handed off, locked in a truck box, or swapped between techs while the loop stays where it is.
5) Is the Pro-Lok K254 a door part or a key carrier?
It is a key carrier, not something that installs on a door. The K254 is a belt hook that holds a key ring on your belt, wrist, or purse. If you are looking for hardware that mounts to the opening, this is not it.
6) Is the Pro-Lok belt hook leather or plastic?
Leather. It is a heavy-duty leather strap with a metal spring clip and a metal split ring, so the wear points are metal and the body is leather rather than molded plastic.
7) How many Pro-Lok K254 belt hooks does one model number cover?
There is a single model, K254, so there are no finish, size, or length choices to specify. The only decision at ordering is which pack format you want.
