The plate measures 3-5/8 x 1-1/4 inches. That is the common tall-strike footprint, so it generally covers the mortise left by a standard 1-1/8 x 2-3/4 inch deadbolt or latch strike with room to spare. Measure your existing jamb mortise first; anything wider than 1-1/4 inches will show at the edges.

No. Four screws come with it, in two lengths: 1-1/4 inch and 3 inch. Use the 3 inch screws through the jamb into the framing for the security benefit. You'll want a drill and a countersink-depth pilot hole so the long screws don't split the jamb.

The plate itself is stainless steel, and it's sold in a brass finish. Stainless is the reason it holds up on an exterior jamb where a plated stamped strike would rust at the screw heads.

It's a single-opening security strike, so it serves whichever bolt lines up with its opening, most commonly a deadbolt. If your door has both a deadbolt and a knob latch at separate heights, you need one strike for each, or a full-length combination strike that spans both. Check the bolt centerline against the plate opening before you cut the jamb.
