1) Does the QWIKrope SPR-183 come with pulling eyes already installed, or do I have to tie it off?
Two pulling eyes are installed at the factory, one on each end, so you can clip straight to a swivel or basket grip without knotting. That matters with UHMWPE, because the fiber is slick and knots cut the usable strength of the line.
2) What is the difference between a UHMWPE pulling rope and a standard polyester or polypropylene pull line?
UHMWPE is the fiber in the SPR-183, and it behaves differently in three ways that show up on a pull. It stretches very little, so tension goes into moving the conductor rather than into the line. It has a lower coefficient of friction, about 24 percent lower than traditional pulling ropes, so it slides through bends and over sheaves with less drag. And it does not absorb water, so there is no rope rot from a wet vault or a flooded duct. A polyester or poly line is heavier for the same strength and will soak up water.
3) Is this pulling rope restricted for shipping or sale in California?
No restrictions apply. The SPR-183 is not DOT regulated hazmat or ORM-D, not FDA, DEA, ATF or USDA regulated, not subject to state or local sale restrictions, and not restricted in California under CARB.
