Southwire SPR-966 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Do I need to tie my own eye on the end, or does the QWIKrope come with pulling eyes?
Both ends are done for you. The SPR-966 ships with dual factory installed pulling eyes, so you can connect your swivel and pulling grip straight out of the box with no splicing or knotting.
2) Will this pulling rope rot or swell if it sits in a wet conduit or gets stored damp?
No. QWIKrope is made of UHMWPE fiber, which does not absorb water, so there is no rope rot and no weight gain when wet. It is also UV resistant, so outdoor reel storage and overhead work won't degrade it the way an older synthetic line would.
3) Why choose a UHMWPE pulling rope over a standard polyester or polypropylene pulling line?
Two reasons that show up on the tension gauge. QWIKrope's UHMWPE construction has a 24 percent lower coefficient of friction than traditional pulling ropes, so you lose less of your puller's force to conduit bends. And it is ultra low stretch, so the rope doesn't store energy during the pull, which keeps tension readings honest and reduces snap-back if something lets go. A polyester line stretches more and drags harder through sweeps.
4) Can I order a single reel of QWIKrope, or is there a case minimum?
One reel is a valid order. Minimum order quantity is 1, the master pack contains a single item, and it ships as one box rather than split across multiple cartons.
5) What color is the QWIKrope and does that help on a job site?
White. Easy to spot in a dark trench or vault, and it also makes it obvious when the line has picked up mud or lubricant so you know when to clean it before the next pull.
