1) What is the difference between the RAB STL110 and STL200 motion sensors?
Coverage angle is the whole difference. The Stealth Series STL110 sweeps a 110 degree field of view; the STL200 sweeps 200 degrees. Pick the 200 degree unit when the sensor sits on a building corner or at the middle of a long wall and has to watch approaches from both sides, and the 110 degree unit when you want the detection zone narrowed onto one walkway, one door, or one drive so passing traffic or a neighboring lot doesn't trip the lights all night. Both angles come in black and white, and both come in an LED-compatible version.
2) What voltage does the RAB Stealth Series motion sensor run on?
120V, single voltage. That means it drops onto a standard branch circuit in a house, a strip mall, or a multi-family building without a transformer. If the pole or building lighting you are controlling is fed at 277V, which is common on commercial and warehouse lighting panels, the Stealth Series is the wrong control and you need a 277V-rated sensor instead.
3) I am replacing an old halogen security light with LED heads. Which RAB Stealth part number do I order?
Order the -LED build, not the standard one, even if the old sensor was working fine on the halogen fixtures. Once the lamps change to LED the load characteristic changes with them, and the sensor has to be the LED-compatible version: STL110-LED or STL200-LED for black, STL110W-LED or STL200W-LED for white. Then pick your angle. A single flood over a back door usually wants 110 degrees; a corner-mounted unit covering two elevations wants 200. Supply is 120V either way.
4) How much lighting load can a RAB Stealth motion sensor switch?
The Stealth Series is rated for 500W to 1000W of lighting load. That is enough headroom to run a bank of fixtures off one sensor rather than a sensor per head, which is what makes it usable for a parking area, a loading dock, or a building perimeter run instead of just a single door light. Add up the wattage of every fixture on the switched leg and keep the total inside that rating.
5) Does the RAB Stealth outdoor sensor come in white to match my building trim?
Both black and white are stocked, and the finish is baked into the part number rather than being a field option. White carries a W in the number: STL110W and STL200W in the standard build, STL110W-LED and STL200W-LED in the LED-compatible build. Black drops the W: STL110, STL200, STL110-LED, STL200-LED. For a property manager standardizing a portfolio, that is four numbers to keep on a list, two finishes crossed with two coverage angles, in whichever build matches your lamp type.
6) Can I use a RAB Stealth sensor to control LED fixtures with a constant current driver?
That is exactly what the -LED build is for. The Stealth Series LED-compatible versions are set up for constant current driver LED lamp loads, so the sensor's switching stays clean against the driver rather than fighting it. Order STL110-LED or STL200-LED in black, STL110W-LED or STL200W-LED in white, and match the angle to the coverage you need.
7) Will one RAB Stealth sensor cover a whole parking lot or do I need several?
One sensor covers one field of view, not an area. The widest Stealth Series option, the STL200, sees 200 degrees, so a unit mounted flat on a wall covers everything in front of it and a good way to each side, but nothing behind the wall it is mounted on. For an L-shaped lot or a building with lights on more than one elevation, plan a sensor per viewing direction. Load capacity is rarely the constraint at 500W to 1000W per sensor; sight lines are.
