1) Which conductor option should I order for an electric lock power transfer, 4-conductor 22 gauge or 2-conductor 18 gauge?
Two configurations are offered: 4-conductor 22 gauge and 2-conductor 18 gauge. Use the 2-conductor 18 gauge where you are only carrying lock power and want the heavier wire for current and voltage drop on a longer run. Use the 4-conductor 22 gauge where the lock also sends back monitoring or latch status and you need the extra pair. Match the count to the lock's wiring diagram before you cut the door.
2) Will an RCI 9512 bridge cable work as a request-to-exit or push-to-exit device?
No. The 9512 and 9513 are power transfer hardware only, carrying conductors from frame to door for an electric lock. They do not switch anything. For a release input you need an actual exit device: a Dortronics 5286 Series push plate marked Push to Exit, a Locknetics WS-200 flush mount wave switch, or a Command Access REXKIT-CL field installable request to exit kit if the signal has to come from inside a CL180 Series cylindrical lock.
3) Can a Schlage 7764 or 7766 door position switch be used instead of the RCI 9512 bridge cable?
No - they do different jobs. The RCI 9512 and 9513 are bridge cables that carry power across the hinge side of the door to an electric lock mounted in the door leaf, recessed into the door and frame so they are concealed when the door is closed. The Schlage Electronics 7764 is a magnetic door position switch in a concealed flush mount, and the 7766 is the surface mount version of the same magnetic door position switch; both are single pole double throw and report whether the door is open or closed. A door with an in-door electric lock that also needs position monitoring would use both - a bridge cable for power transfer and a position switch for status.
4) What size opening do I cut for the RCI 9512 versus the 9513 bridge cable?
Order sizes run 11-1/2 inch (10-3/16 inch) x 1 inch for the short unit and 20-1/16 inch (18-3/4 inch) x 1 inch for the long one, the bracketed figure being the recessed portion. The face plate is 1 inch wide in both cases, so the visible cut on the door edge is the same width and only the height changes.
5) Is a concealed bridge cable more secure than running wire through an exposed door loop?
That is the point of it. Because the unit recesses into the hinge side and stays fully concealed with the door closed, the conductors are never exposed to be cut or pulled from the secure or unsecure side. A surface door loop leaves the wire visible at the hinge gap. The tradeoff is labor: the bridge cable needs a mortise in both the door and frame.

If the requirement is only a request-to-exit signal from a cylindrical lock, the Command Access REXKIT-CL is a field installable request to exit switch kit for CL180 Series cylindrical locks with an SPDT configuration. That kit still needs wiring brought into the door, so a power transfer path such as a bridge cable is generally still part of the opening.
