1) What door thicknesses does the RCI MultiMag armature bolt cover?
Three thickness ranges are offered: 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 inches (44-57mm), 2-1/4 to 2-3/4 inches (57-70mm), and 2-1/2 to 3 inches (70-76mm). Measure the actual door leaf at the bolt location before picking, since the ranges overlap at 2-1/4 inches and a bolt sized short will not draw the armature flush against the magnet.
2) Does the RCI armature bolt work with an 8310 or an 8320 maglock?
Both, but they are separate parts. The bolt is ordered as compatible with either the 8310 or the 8320, and each of those is offered across all three door thickness ranges. You specify the magnet model and the door thickness together when ordering.
3) I have an RCI maglock already installed and the armature came loose. Can I just buy the bolt?
Yes, the armature bolt is sold on its own as a MultiMag replacement part, not as a complete lock. You need to know two things to order right: which magnet body is on the door, 8310 or 8320, and the door thickness. Both drive which bolt you get.
4) Will this armature bolt fit a door thicker than 3 inches?
No. The largest range covered tops out at 3 inches (76mm). Anything thicker than that is outside what the MultiMag armature bolt is built for, and forcing a short bolt into a thicker leaf leaves the armature loose against the magnet face, which is the usual cause of a maglock that holds well below its rated force.
5) Does the armature bolt come with the electromagnetic lock, or is it ordered separately?
It is a mounting component ordered separately from the magnet. The bolt secures the armature plate through the door leaf so it makes solid contact with the 8310 or 8320 magnet body. Follow the installation instructions supplied with the parent maglock for hole location and torque.
6) Is the RCI MultiMag armature bolt rated for commercial traffic?
It is a commercial access control part, used on office buildings, healthcare, schools, retail, industrial sites and government facilities. It is not a residential-duty item.
