OATEY 59708 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) I'm a property manager stocking toilet repair parts. Is the Oatey ring and chain a general replacement part or brand specific?
It's a generic tank repair component, not a brand-matched kit. The 2 inch ring and 12 inch chain replace a corroded or broken lift chain on a standard gravity tank toilet regardless of the fixture maker, as long as your flush lever arm and tank ball or flapper accept a hook-and-chain connection. At 0.1 lb per assembly it's a light, easy item to keep on a truck or in a maintenance closet in quantity.
2) Does the Oatey 59708 include a flapper or tank ball?
No. The 59708 is the ring and chain only, a 2 inch ring with a 12 inch chain. If the rubber seal itself is worn or warped, order a flapper or tank ball separately; this part just restores the lift connection between the flush lever and that seal.
3) What part number should I order for the Oatey 2 inch ring and 12 inch chain?
Order Oatey 59708. That's the manufacturer part number for the complete ring and chain assembly, and it's the only configuration offered.
