Rockwood 605 Door Guard Protection Plate, 1-1/8" by 1" by 1/2" Return, Self-Adhesive Tape Fastener

The 605 is the protection plate only, not the guard. It covers the corner of the door where the arm of a swing bar door guard bears, so the arm wears the plate instead of the door. It has no latching or securing function on its own, so if what you actually need is the guard hardware, the 605 is not that part.

No drilling, no screws, no prep. The 605 fastens with self-adhesive tape, so it goes onto a finished door face with nothing else to buy to complete the install. Wipe the area down so the tape has clean metal or clean paint to grab and that is the whole job.

Because the 605 is tape-applied rather than screwed, you can retrofit it to doors already in service without pulling the leaf, boring it, or putting fasteners through a finished face. That makes it workable for a hotel floor or an apartment building where you are treating a run of entry doors one at a time between turns rather than during a hardware change-out.

US26D is the finish, and US26D is satin chrome, so the plate sits beside satin chrome levers, hinges and closers without reading as a different metal. It is the only finish the 605 is offered in. If the rest of the opening is bright brass, black, or oil rubbed bronze, expect the 605 to stand out against it.

Brass is the base material on the 605, carried in a US26D finish over it. If your drawing or purchase spec names brass as the substrate for the door guard protection plate, this one meets that call.

Every time a guest or tenant throws the swing bar, the arm rides against the corner of the door, and on an entry that gets used daily that contact chews up the finish and the edge. The Rockwood 605 takes the contact instead of the door, which is cheaper to replace than refinishing or swapping a leaf. It is the reason these show up as a standard line item on hotel and multi-family entry openings rather than as a repair.

Commercial is what the 605 is specified as, and Rockwood trim of this kind lands on institutional, office, retail, educational, detention, hotel and restaurant openings.
