Metallics SHK6B S-Hooks 1" x .120 Wire Dia St-zn (Box 1000)

The Metallics SHK6B is a 1 inch S-hook formed from .120 inch diameter wire, in steel with a zinc finish. The 1 inch figure is the overall hook length, so each open end gives roughly a half-inch hook on either side of the S bend.

They ship 1000 hooks to a box, so the SHK6B is a bulk pack rather than a small count card. For an electrician hanging a run of fixtures or chain, that is enough to cover a whole floor without reordering.

The SHK6B is steel with a zinc plating, which is a dry indoor interior finish. Zinc gives light corrosion protection for indoor use, not sustained weather exposure. For exterior, wet locations, or coastal work, specify a stainless or hot dip galvanized hook instead.

At .120 inch wire diameter the SHK6B is slim enough to pass through the links of common light-duty hanging chain, but the open gap on a 1 inch hook is small. If you are linking heavier chain or a thick eye bolt, measure the link opening first, because the limiting factor is the gap at the hook ends, not the hook length.

Small S-hooks in this size are a general electrical and MRO fastening item: hanging lightweight fixtures, signage, or drop cords from chain or wire, linking chain sections, and holding loose runs off a surface. The SHK6B is catalogued as an electrical item, and at 1 inch with .120 wire it is a light-duty hook, not a rigging or load-bearing support.

Order Metallics SHK6B. That one number covers the 1 inch, .120 wire diameter steel zinc S-hook in the 1000 piece box; there are no size or finish choices to specify with it.
