2) Will the Sargent 269 closer hold the door open, and can I get delayed closing on it?

On a dry interior corridor door it is money you do not need to spend.
10) What finishes does the Sargent 269 concealed closer come in, and does the finish even show once the door is installed?
Very little of the closer is visible, since the track is fully concealed and only the forged steel arm shows when the door is open, so the finish choice is really about matching that arm to the rest of the opening. Eight choices: 10BE dark oxidized satin bronze, BSP black suede powder coat, WSP white suede powder coat, EN sprayed aluminum enamel, EAB sprayed brass enamel, EP sprayed bronze enamel to match satin bronze, EB sprayed bronze enamel to match dark satin bronze, and ED sprayed bronze enamel to match dark statuary bronze. For a fleet of openings where the existing hardware is dark bronze, EB and ED are the two match-to-bronze options and they target different bronze tones, so pick against the actual existing hardware rather than the name.
11) Can a Sargent 269 overhead concealed closer be retrofitted onto an existing door, or does it need new door prep?
This is not a swap-in job. An overhead concealed closer requires a routed track channel in the door head and a prepped frame header to take the closer body, cut from the manufacturer's templates. Yes, and there are only three things that change opening to opening. Handing, left or right. The arm, where you would run the standard O arm on general openings, OB where you want an integral bumper, and a CSP, CSPS or CSPD security pack at controlled or detention doors. On top of that, SRI corrosion protection and DA delayed action are each a yes or no, with DA off the table on any opening you spec a security pack for. Fix finish and duty across the building, then vary handing and arm per door.

The CRL Jackson 20-101M-01 and 20-101M-03 are regular duty overhead concealed closer bodies in brown, non hold open, with the -01 stopping at 105 degrees and the -03 at 90 degrees. The 20-101M-17 is an adjustable spring power overhead concealed closer body, 105 degree non hold open. Those are body-only items with a fixed swing and no hold open. The Sargent 269 is a heavy duty Grade 1 concealed closer that opens to 180 degrees, carries a hold open feature, and is ordered handed with an arm and finish selected. If the opening is a light interior door with no need for 180 degree swing or hold open, the regular duty CRL Jackson bodies cover it; if you need the wider swing or hold open, stay with the 269.
