1) Will a Sargent 63-40 mortise cylinder work in my Sargent exit device, or is it only for mortise locks?
The 63-40 large format interchangeable core mortise cylinder works across many Sargent products, not just mortise locks. Sargent lists it as compatible with exit devices, mortise locks, bored locks, and padlocks, which is what lets a facility run one core system and one key across every opening. The cylinder body is solid brass at 1-5/32 inch diameter, the standard mortise cylinder size Sargent uses throughout the line.
2) What do the 42, 43, 44 and 46 size numbers mean on a Sargent 63-40 cylinder, and which one do I order?
