1) Will a Sargent XC 8X cylinder work in a keyway that already exists on my Sargent master key system?
The XC 8X bored lock cylinder can be brought into most existing Sargent systems, or set up as a brand new system with multiple security levels. The keys are cut so they operate XC cylinders and conventional cylinders in the same key system, so you can convert high-risk doors to bump resistant cylinders without rekeying the whole building at once. Orderable keyways are LA (standard), LB, LC, LE, LF, LG, LJ, LK and LL.
2) What do I have to specify when ordering a Sargent 11-C8X-1 cylinder?
Three choices. Finish: 04 satin brass clear coated or 15 satin nickel plated clear coated. Keyway: LA (standard), LB, LC, LE, LF, LG, LJ, LK or LL. And keying, which is required at order time, either Standard Keying, KD keyed different, or KA keyed alike. Keyed alike is what you want when several doors on a suite or a tenant space should take one key.
3) Is this a cylinder only, or does it include the lock?
It is the cylinder alone, a replacement part for Sargent 8X Line bored locks. The chassis, trim and latch stay as installed; you are swapping the plug and shell assembly that the key turns.
4) Can my locksmith rekey these XC cylinders in the shop, or do they have to go back to Sargent?
