Satco Lighting 67-123 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Can the Satco 67-123 exit sign be used as a single face or does it have to be double face?
Both. The 67-123 combination unit ships configurable as single face or dual face, so one part number covers a wall-mounted sign read from one direction and a corridor or stairwell sign that needs to be read from both sides. Pair that with the universal mounting and you can standardize on a single SKU across a building instead of stocking separate single and double face units.
    2) Will the Satco 67-123 exit sign work on 277 volt circuits in a commercial building?
Yes. The 67-123 is a dual voltage unit accepting 120 through 277 volts, so it lands on either a standard 120V lighting circuit in a multi-family corridor or a 277V branch circuit in a commercial or institutional building without a separate part number or transformer.
    3) How long does the battery backup on the Satco 67-123 combo exit sign last during a power outage?
The 67-123 carries a nickel-cadmium battery rated for 90 minutes of backup, which is the standard duration used for egress illumination in commercial buildings. During the outage both the red exit legend and the two adjustable emergency heads run off that battery.
    4) Does the Satco 67-123 include emergency lights or is it just an exit sign?
It is a combination unit, not a bare sign. Along with the red exit legend you get two emergency heads on the same housing, so one box and one circuit covers both the exit marking and the egress path illumination. If you only need the lit legend, a plain exit sign is the smaller and lower-profile choice; the combo is what you want where the corridor or stair also has to stay lit.
    5) Can the Satco 67-123 be ceiling mounted or end mounted, or only on the wall?
Universal mounting is included, so the 67-123 covers wall, ceiling, and end mount orientations from the same unit. That is the reason it suits retrofit work where you are replacing a mixed set of older signs and do not know in advance which back plate each opening needs.
    6) What is the housing on the Satco 67-123 made of, and is it suitable for a high traffic corridor?
Steel housing, finished in white. Steel holds up better than a thermoplastic shell in corridors, stairwells, and loading areas where a sign can take a hit from a cart or a ladder, which is the usual reason a property manager or MRO buyer specifies a steel body over plastic.
    7) What is the correct Satco part number to order for the red combination exit sign with dual heads?
Order Satco 67-123, also written 67/123 on the manufacturer's own labeling. That number covers the red legend combination unit with two heads, 120-277V input, 90 minute Ni-Cad backup, and universal mounting in white.
