Satco Lighting 80-962 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) What does the Satco 80-962 rough-in plate actually do, and is the light fixture included?
The 80-962 is a 12 inch linear rough-in plate only. It mounts in the ceiling opening ahead of finish work so a 12 inch Satco LED direct wire linear downlight can be installed into it later. No LED downlight, no driver, no light source comes with the plate itself; you order the 12 inch linear downlight separately.
    2) I'm roughing in ceilings on a multi-family job, when do I install the Satco 80-962 plate?
The 80-962 goes in during rough-in, before the ceiling is closed and finished. The 12 inch linear downlight it accepts is a direct wire unit, so you bring line voltage to the location at the same stage; the downlight itself drops in after drywall and paint. Ordering plates with the fixtures keeps rough-in and trim-out on the same schedule.
