Satco Lighting S11330 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the Satco S11330 A21 LED be used on a dimmer switch?
No. The S11330 is a non-dimmable lamp, so putting it on a dimmer circuit can cause flicker, buzz, or premature failure. If the fixture is on a dimmer and you want dimming, you need a lamp specified as dimmable; otherwise the dimmer has to be replaced with a standard switch before you install these.
2) Will this Satco 20W A21 LED work in an enclosed ceiling fixture or a closed glass globe?
Yes. The S11330 is an enclosed rated lamp, so it can run inside a closed fixture or sealed glass globe where heat builds up. It also carries a damp location rating, which covers covered porches, bathrooms and similar spots, but not direct wet exposure.
3) What incandescent bulb does a 20W A21 LED at 2000 lumens replace?
It replaces a 125W incandescent. You get 2000 lumens out of 20 watts, so a fixture that previously drew 125W per socket now draws 20W for equivalent output. Across a large lamp count that is the number to use for load and energy calculations.
4) Does this lamp run on 277 volt commercial lighting circuits?
Yes. The S11330 accepts 120V through 277V at 60Hz, so the same lamp works on residential 120V branch circuits and on 277V commercial or industrial lighting circuits. Current draw runs 0.167A at the low end of the range down to 0.072A at the high end, which matters when you are counting lamps on a circuit.
5) Is 3000K the right color temperature to match the rest of my building's lighting?
The S11330 is fixed at 3000K, a warm white, and it is not CCT selectable, so there is no switch to change it in the field. If your other lamps are 2700K they will read noticeably warmer side by side, and 4000K lamps will read cooler. For a corridor or unit turnover, standardize the whole space on 3000K rather than mixing. Color rendering is 90+ CRI, which holds paint, wood tone and skin tone accurately in lobbies and hospitality spaces.
6) Can I mount this LED bulb base-up in a recessed can or pointing sideways in a sconce?
Any orientation is fine. Burning position is universal, so base-up in a recessed can, base-down in a pendant, or horizontal in a wall sconce all work without affecting the rating.
7) Does the S11330 work in a three-way lamp socket?
It is not a three-way lamp. Screwed into a three-way socket it will light at a single fixed output, and the switch positions will not step the brightness. For table and floor lamps where tenants expect three levels, you need a lamp specified as three-way.
8) How wide does the light spread from this A21 LED, and is it good for general room lighting?
Beam spread is 220 degrees, which is wider than a hemisphere, so light wraps back past the base rather than throwing straight down. That makes it a general ambient lamp for open fixtures, sconces and table lamps, not a directional lamp. If you need light aimed at a surface from a recessed can, a BR or PAR reflector lamp is the better choice.
9) Does the Satco S11330 qualify for a DLC-based utility rebate?
No. This lamp is not DLC approved, so it will not satisfy a rebate or incentive program that requires a DesignLights Consortium listing. If your utility program is tied to the DLC Qualified Products List, you need a lamp carrying that listing. The S11330 is FCC compliant and is noted as lawful for sale in California.
10) How long will these last before maintenance has to change them again?
Average rated life is 25,000 hours. On a 12 hour per day corridor or common-area schedule that is roughly 5.7 years of service, which is why these get spec'd for hard-to-reach fixtures where ladder time is the real cost.
11) Is the bulb glass or plastic, and what does it look like when it is off?
The lens is white polystyrene plastic rather than glass, with a white housing, so the lamp reads as a plain white A-shape when off and diffuses the LED rather than showing hot spots when lit. The plastic lens is also less of a breakage risk than glass in tenant-occupied spaces.
