Satco Lighting S11332 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I use the Satco S11332 A21 LED on a dimmer switch?
No. The S11332 is a non-dimmable lamp, so putting it on a dimmer will give you flicker, buzz, or no start at all. Wire it to a standard on/off switch, or pick a dimmable A21 if the circuit already has a dimmer on it. It is also not three-way, so it will not step through levels in a 3-way socket fixture.
2) Will the Satco S11332 20W A21 LED work in an enclosed ceiling fixture or a jelly jar?
Yes, it is an enclosed rated lamp, so a closed globe, jelly jar, or drum fixture will not cook it the way it would a non-rated LED. It is also damp location rated, which covers covered porches, bathrooms, and parking garage soffits. It is not wet rated, so keep it out of fixtures with direct water exposure. Burning position is universal, so base up, base down, or horizontal are all fine.
3) Can I run this Satco A21 LED on 277 volt commercial lighting circuits?
Yes. The lamp is rated 120V to 277V at 60Hz, so the same part number works on a 120V branch circuit in an apartment and on a 277V circuit in a warehouse, corridor, or parking structure. Current draw runs 0.167A at the low end of the range down to 0.072A at 277V. For MRO stocking that means one bulb on the shelf instead of two.
4) Is 5000K too cold for apartment units, or is that the right color for the job?
5000K is daylight white, a crisp blue-white. It reads well in garages, laundry rooms, stairwells, storage, shops, and back-of-house areas where you want things to look bright and clean. In living rooms and bedrooms most tenants find it harsh and ask for something warmer. The color is fixed, not field selectable, so what you order is what you get on every unit. It does not match a 2700K or 3000K lamp in an adjacent fixture, so if you are relamping one out of a row, replace the row.
5) How well does the Satco S11332 render color for retail or inspection work?
CRI is 90 plus, which is above the 80 CRI most general purpose LED lamps land at. That matters where colors have to be judged accurately: retail displays, paint and finish work, healthcare exam areas, and any inspection task. Paired with 5000K daylight color it is a lamp for seeing detail, not for setting a mood.
6) How long will the Satco S11332 last before maintenance has to relamp?
Average rated life is 25,000 hours. On a corridor or stairwell running about 12 hours a day that is roughly 5.7 years between relamps; running 24/7 it works out near 2.9 years. For a property manager scheduling ladder time across a portfolio, that is the number to build the cycle around.
7) Is the Satco S11332 clear or frosted, and will you see the LED diodes through it?
The lens is white plastic (PS) with a white housing, so it is a diffused lamp, not a clear filament style bulb. In an open socket or a bare fixture you get an even glow instead of visible diode dots or a hot spot. If the fixture is decorative and the bulb is meant to be seen as a filament, this is not that lamp.
8) Does the Satco S11332 qualify for a DLC utility rebate on a lighting retrofit?
No, it is not DLC approved, so it will not clear a rebate program that requires a DesignLights Consortium listing. If the rebate is what is funding the retrofit, verify the program's qualified products list before you commit to a lamp count.
