Satco Lighting S11412 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I put this LED bulb in a fully enclosed fixture?
Yes, it's an enclosed rated lamp, so a closed globe, jelly jar, or flush-mount drum won't cook it the way a non-enclosed-rated LED gets cooked. It also carries a damp location rating, which covers covered porches, bathrooms, and laundry rooms. Damp is not wet, so it isn't for fixtures taking direct rain or spray.
2) Can I sell or install this bulb in California?
No. The S11412 is flagged non-compliant for California, so it should not be specified for jobs in that state. Buyers covering California properties need a Title 20 compliant A19 LED instead.
3) Does the 220 degree beam angle mean this bulb throws light in all directions?
Close to it. A 220 degree beam spread with a frosted lens means light spills sideways and back toward the socket, not just straight out the nose. That suits table lamps, wall sconces, ceiling fans, and open globes where you want even fill. For a tight downward beam in a recessed can, a reflector lamp does that job better than an A19.
4) Can this bulb be installed base-up in a ceiling fixture?
Yes, burning position is universal, so base-up, base-down, or horizontal all work. That matters for enclosed ceiling fixtures and wall sconces where a position-restricted lamp would run hot and fail early.
5) How long will these Satco A19 LEDs last before a maintenance crew has to go back up the ladder?
Rated average life is 10,000 hours. In a corridor or exterior fixture running roughly 12 hours a day, that's a bit over two years between relamps. It's a value-tier life rating rather than a 25,000 hour lamp, which is part of why it's sold by the 100-pack for volume turn and burn work.
6) Will this bulb work in a 3-way lamp socket?
It will light, but it won't step through the three levels. The S11412 is not a 3-way lamp and it isn't dimmable, so in a 3-way socket it runs at one fixed output. If you need the three-step function, order a 3-way rated A19 LED.
7) Does the S11412 qualify for a DLC utility rebate?
No. This lamp is not DLC approved, so it won't qualify under DesignLights Consortium based rebate programs. It is FCC compliant for electromagnetic interference. If a rebate is driving the purchase, check what your utility requires before standardizing on it.
8) Is the color rendering on this Satco LED good enough for guest rooms or retail?
CRI is 80, which is the standard general-purpose level for residential, hospitality corridors, and multi-family units. Skin tones and finishes read normally. If the space is retail display or anywhere color accuracy is being judged closely, spec a 90+ CRI lamp instead.
9) Can I change the color temperature on this bulb?
No, it's fixed at 2700K warm white with no selectable CCT switch. Every lamp out of the 100-pack will match the next one, which is what you want when you're relamping a whole building and don't want mismatched color down a hallway. If you need 3000K or 4000K somewhere, that's a different part number.
