Satco Lighting S11840 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Can I set the color temperature on site, or do I have to order a specific Kelvin?
One part number covers five color temperatures. The S11840 is CCT selectable at 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K, chosen at the fixture during install. For a property manager stocking one box across a building, that means you can match 3000K in the units and run 4000K in the corridors without carrying two SKUs. Wattage is fixed at 9W and is not selectable.
    2) Is the S11840 downlight rated for a bathroom or a covered exterior soffit?
Damp location rated and IP42, and listed for indoor use. That covers a bathroom ceiling or an enclosed, indoor damp area. It is not a wet location fixture, so do not put it in an open soffit, a shower spray zone, or anywhere exposed to direct water.
    3) Will this Satco downlight dim, and is it approved for California energy code jobs?
It is a dimmable 120V, 60Hz fixture and it is California T24 Listed, which is what a contractor needs for Title 24 residential and commercial work in that state. It also carries cETLus listing, is FCC compliant and RoHS compliant.
    4) How much light does a 9W 4 inch gimbal downlight actually put out?
Output is 650 to 750 lumens from 9 watts, with the figure shifting across the selectable color temperature range. The gimbal lets you aim the beam, so it is commonly used for wall washing, artwork, or sloped ceilings rather than flat general illumination.
    5) Can I replace the lamp in the S11840 when it burns out?
No. The LED is integrated, so there is no socket and no replaceable lamp. Rated life is 50,000 hours, and at end of life the whole fixture gets swapped. If you need a relampable can, this is the wrong product type.
    6) What is the S11840 housing made of, and how heavy is it?
Aluminum body in a white finish, weighing 1 lb. The aluminum helps pull heat off the LED, which matters in an insulated ceiling, and the light weight means it hangs off the ceiling plane without extra bracing.
How fast can I get the Satco Lighting S11840 delivered?
