1) Can I use the Satco S12407 LED in an enclosed fixture or outdoors?
Yes on both. The S12407 is an enclosed rated lamp, so it can go in a sealed globe, jelly jar, or closed ceiling fixture without cooking the driver, and it carries a wet location rating for indoor and outdoor use. That covers porch fixtures, covered walkways, and exterior wall packs. It also burns in any position, so base-up cans and base-down pendants are both fine.
2) Is the Satco S12407 dimmable, and will it work on my existing dimmer?
The S12407 is a dimmable LED running on 120V, 60Hz and drawing 0.068 amps. That current draw is the thing to watch: most older incandescent dimmers have a minimum load, and one 8.2W LED on the circuit may not be enough to hold it stable. Yes, the S12407 is an LED filament lamp with a glass envelope and an aluminum and glass base build. The soft white lens diffuses the filament strands, so it does not have the exposed-filament vintage look, but the filament construction gives it a 320 degree beam spread, close to omnidirectional. That matters in a bare-bulb or open-shade fixture where a directional LED would leave the upper half of the shade dark.
