Satco Lighting S29429 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the difference between PAR30LN and a regular PAR30 short neck bulb?
Neck length, not the face. Both use a medium base and share the same PAR30 diameter, but the long neck version, which is what the Satco S29429 is, has a longer body between the base and the lens. Recessed housings and track heads are usually specified for one or the other. If the existing lamp in the can is a short neck PAR30, the LN will seat lower in the aperture and can stick out of the trim; if the fixture was built for an LN, a short neck will sit too far back and cut off the beam at the trim edge. Match what came out of the fixture.
2) What does 5000K look like, and will it match the other bulbs in my building?
5000K is daylight white, a crisp blue-white with no warmth in it. It will not match 2700K or 3000K lamps, which read yellow or warm white next to it, and the difference is obvious when both are in the same sightline. For a property manager relamping a fleet of fixtures, the Satco S29429 is the right pick only if the existing lamps are already 5000K, which is common in parking structures, shops, warehouses, and back of house areas. In lobbies, guest rooms, and hospitality spaces where the existing stock is warm, this one will stand out.
3) Can a 12.5 watt LED PAR30 replace the 75 watt halogen PAR30 that is in the fixture now?
Wattage is the wrong comparison for an LED swap. The Satco S29429 draws 12.5 watts, a fraction of what an incandescent or halogen PAR30 pulls, so the circuit load drops sharply when you relamp a run of cans or track heads. Match the beam and the color instead: this one is a 25 degree narrow flood at 5000K, so it substitutes cleanly for a halogen narrow flood spot in a daylight-white space, and not for a wide flood or a warm-white lamp.
4) Does the Satco S29429 PAR30LN come in more than one finish or color temperature?
One configuration only. The S29429 is built as a clear lamp at 5000K with a 25 degree beam, so there is nothing to select when ordering it. If a job needs a warmer color or a wider spread, that is a different Satco part number, not an option on this one.
