SATCO Lighting S39058 8.5W LED Direct Wire Downlight, Edge-lit, 4in, 5000K, 120V, Dimmable

Yes, the S39058 is the 4 inch version of Satco's edge-lit direct wire downlight. The trim ring measures 5 inches in diameter, so it covers the ceiling opening around a nominal 4 inch can, and the body is only 1.94 inches deep. That shallow depth is why it also works in ceilings where there is no can at all, as long as you have access to a junction box.

The fixture carries a damp location rating and is listed for indoor use, so a bathroom ceiling or a covered porch soffit is fine. It is not wet rated, which means directly inside a shower or tub enclosure, or anywhere exposed to direct water, calls for a wet-rated fixture instead.

Yes, it is listed as Title 24 compliant, which matters if you are specifying for California residential or commercial work. It is also cETLus listed for the US and Canada, FCC compliant, and RoHS compliant, so it covers the usual submittal checklist for institutional and multi-family spec packages.

It is dimmable and runs on 120V at 60Hz line voltage. There is no separate driver to order, the LED and driver are integrated. As with any low-wattage LED, pair it with a dimmer rated for LED loads and check the dimmer's minimum load when you are running only one or two 8.5W fixtures on a circuit.

Rated life is 40,000 hours. The LED is integrated, so there is no lamp to replace, at end of life the whole fixture comes out. For a corridor running 12 hours a day that is roughly nine years of service. Housing is thermal conductive plastic, which handles heat dissipation without the weight of a cast body.
