Satco Lighting S9584 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Satco S9584 amber G25 bulb actually bright enough to replace a 40 watt incandescent globe?
It is rated as a 40W incandescent equivalent, drawing 4.5 watts and putting out 380 lumens. Keep in mind the amber lens and 2000K color temperature mean the light reads much warmer and more golden than a clear 40W bulb, so it looks dimmer to the eye even where the lumen count lines up. This is a decorative light source, not a task light.
2) Can I put this amber G25 LED in an enclosed fixture?
Yes, it's an enclosed rated lamp, so a sealed globe, jar or lantern fixture is fine. It is also damp location rated, which covers a covered porch, a bathroom, or a canopy, but not a spot exposed to direct rain or standing water. It burns in any position, base up or base down.
3) Will the Satco S9584 dim without flickering on my existing wall dimmer?
The S9584 is a dimmable LED, but like all LED filament lamps it needs an LED compatible dimmer. Old incandescent style dimmers were built for a resistive load, and this bulb draws only 0.038 amps, which is often below the minimum load those dimmers need to run smoothly. If you're ganging several on one circuit that helps; a single lamp on a legacy dimmer is where you see flicker and drop-out. It is not a three-way bulb.
4) What does 2000K amber light actually look like in a hospitality or restaurant fixture?
2000K is well below the 2700K of a soft white household bulb, and the transparent amber lens pushes it further toward a candle or vintage gas-lamp glow. In a restaurant, hotel lobby or bar it reads as warm and atmospheric rather than as white light. CRI is 80, which is adequate for ambience but not the choice where accurate color rendering of food, merchandise or finishes matters.
5) Does this Satco amber globe throw light all the way around, or just forward?
It's a 360 degree beam spread. The LED filament construction inside the G25 globe emits in every direction, so it looks right in an open or exposed fixture where the bulb itself is visible, like a bare-socket pendant, marquee band or a clear glass globe shade.
6) How long will these amber G25 LEDs last before maintenance has to relamp?
Rated life is 15,000 hours. On a hospitality fixture running roughly 12 hours a day that's a little over three years before scheduled relamping, which is the usual reason a property swaps decorative incandescent globes for these in the first place.
7) Does the Satco S9584 meet California Title 24 for a residential project?
Yes, the S9584 is Title 24 compliant, which matters if you're specifying lighting for a California residential build or remodel. It is also FCC compliant. It is not DLC listed, so it won't qualify for utility rebate programs that require DesignLights Consortium listing.
8) Can I change the color temperature on this bulb to match other fixtures?
No. The S9584 is fixed at 2000K and is not a CCT selectable lamp, so there's no switch or setting to shift it. If you're standardizing a property and need these to match neighboring openings, every socket getting this look has to take the same amber 2000K lamp. There's one finish, transparent amber, under part number S9584.
