1) Can the Satco S9966 amber A19 LED be used in an enclosed fixture?
Yes. The S9966 is an enclosed rated lamp, so it can go into a sealed or fully enclosed fixture without the heat trapping that shortens the life of non-rated LEDs. It also carries a Damp location rating, which covers covered porches, vestibules and similar sheltered spots, but not direct wet exposure.
2) Will this Satco amber filament bulb work on my existing dimmer?
The S9966 is a dimmable LED running on 120V line voltage. It draws 0.038A at 4.5W, which is a very small load, so on an older magnetic or high-minimum-load incandescent dimmer a single bulb may flicker or refuse to dim smoothly. Ganging several on one circuit or using an LED-rated dimmer with a low minimum load is the way to go.
3) Is 2000K amber going to match the warm white bulbs already in my fixtures?
No, and that is worth knowing before you order a case. At 2000K with a transparent amber lens, the S9966 reads distinctly orange next to a standard 2700K warm white lamp, closer to candle or vintage bulb color. In a multi-lamp chandelier or a run of pendants, mixing the two will look wrong. Use it where the amber glow is the intent, or relamp the whole fixture with it.
4) Can this bulb be mounted base up or sideways in a fixture?
Burning position is universal, so the S9966 can be installed base up, base down or horizontal. The LED filament construction throws a full 360 degree beam spread, so it lights evenly in any orientation, which is what you want in an exposed-bulb pendant or an open cage fixture where the lamp is seen from all sides.
5) How long will these amber LED bulbs last before maintenance has to relamp?
