Schaub 320-15-SM – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What screws does the Schaub Positano cabinet pull take, and will they work on a thick drawer front?
It uses M4 machine screws, the metric thread standard on European style pulls rather than the 8-32 used on many domestic pulls. Order longer M4 screws if your drawer fronts are thicker than standard, and note that an 8-32 screw from an old pull will not thread into it.
2) What is a solid brass alternative to the Schaub 320 Positano pull for a contemporary kitchen?
The Schaub 320 Positano is a zinc-base contemporary pull with 128 mm center-to-center spacing and 1 inch projection. If the specification calls for solid brass instead, the Omnia 1968/102 is a modern cabinet pull in forged solid brass with 4 inch center-to-center spacing, and the Omnia 1970 is a forged solid brass modern pull with 1-1/4 inch projection. Note the center spacing differs from the Schaub 320, so existing bore holes would need to be redrilled.
3) The Schaub 320 is too long for my narrow drawer fronts. What shorter pull should I use instead?
The Schaub 320 Positano measures 5-3/8 inches overall on 128 mm centers, which is more than many narrow drawer fronts will take. For a shorter run, the Deltana SBP35 is a modern square bar pull at 3-1/2 inches, and the Trimco 553 series drawer pulls are 3 inch center-to-center. The Trimco 562 series offers 3-1/2 inch, 4 inch, and 96 mm center-to-center options if you want to step down in one step rather than all the way to 3 inches.
4) How far does the Schaub Positano pull stand off the cabinet face?
Projection is 1 inch, with a 5-3/8 inch overall length and a 1/2 inch base. That inch of clearance is enough for a gloved hand on kitchen and vanity fronts, and it is worth checking against any adjacent wall or appliance return where a drawer front sits close to a corner.
5) What finish combinations does the Schaub Positano 320 arch pull come in?
Six combinations, pairing a metal finish with a clear or smoke acrylic arch: Satin Nickel/Clear, Satin Nickel/Smoke, Polished Chrome/Clear, Polished Chrome/Smoke, Signature Satin Brass/Clear, and Signature Satin Brass/Smoke. Clear reads lighter against a painted door, smoke reads darker and hides fingerprints better.
6) I need a matching pull for smaller drawers, not 128 mm. What else works with a contemporary run?
For shorter centers in a modern look, the Trimco 562 Series drawer pulls come in 3-1/2 inch, 4 inch, and 96 mm centers, and the Trimco 553 Series is 3 inch centers. The Omnia 1968/102 is a 4 inch center modern pull in forged solid brass. None of these will match the Positano acrylic arch visually, so if you want the same look throughout, stay within the Positano collection.
7) Is there another Schaub-designed pull available under a different brand name?
Yes. Emtek offers the Schaub Collection, which includes the Emtek 8405 Select cabinet pulls, the Emtek Alexander cabinet pull, the Emtek Art Deco cabinet pull, and the Emtek Bar cabinet pull. These are cataloged as cabinet knob/pull products in their own series, so styling and sizing differ from the Schaub 320 Positano, which is a contemporary Positano collection pull.
8) Can I use a cabinet knob in place of the Schaub 320 pull on the same doors?
A knob is a single-hole item and will not land on the two-hole pattern the Schaub 320 uses at 128 mm centers. Orca Hardware knobs such as the Bachelor Collection CK-15030 round knob at 1-1/4 inch diameter, the CK-16030 round ring knob at 1-1/4 inch diameter, and the Blackcomb CK-17025 square knob at 25 mm are cataloged as cabinet knobs, so switching to any of them means filling and redrilling the door for a single center bore.
9) How does the projection of the Schaub 320 compare to other modern pulls if I need finger clearance at an inset door?
The Schaub 320 Positano projects 1 inch off the face. Among comparable modern pulls, the Omnia 1969 and Omnia 1971 both project 1-3/16 inches and the Omnia 1970 projects 1-1/4 inches, all in forged solid brass. If your inset doors or adjacent appliance panels need more knuckle room, those Omnia profiles stand further off the face than the Schaub 320.
10) Is this an appliance pull or a standard cabinet pull?
It is a cabinet pull, sized for door and drawer fronts at 128 mm centers. Appliance panels normally need a much longer pull with wider centers, so this is not the part for a refrigerator or dishwasher panel.
11) Does the Positano arch pull suit a transitional kitchen or is it strictly modern?
Schaub lists the Positano style as contemporary. The clear or smoke acrylic arch on a metal base reads modern, though satin brass with a smoke arch softens it enough for a transitional room. For a more traditional run, the Emtek Art Deco or Alexander cabinet pulls from the Schaub collection are the other direction.
12) Is the SDC SP50 spindle a replacement part for the Schaub 320 cabinet pull?
No. The SDC SP50 is a 50 mm spindle used in door control applications, not cabinet hardware. The Schaub 320 Positano is a cabinet pull that mounts with M4 screws through the door or drawer front, so an SP50 spindle has no role in it. For a like-for-like cabinet pull, stay within the cabinet pull group such as the Omnia 1968/102 or the Trimco 562 series.
