Schaub 730 3-3/4" Overall; 3" Center to Center Traditional Cup Pull

Mounting hardware on the 730 is 8/32 thread, 1 inch long. That length suits a standard 3/4 inch drawer front with a little thread to spare. If you are pulling through a thicker front, a false front plus a box front, or a face with an applied panel, the 1 inch screws will bottom out and you need longer 8/32 machine screws. Thread is 8/32, so any standard cabinet-hardware 8/32 screw in the right length works.

If the 730 cup profile is not the look you want but the holes are already bored at 3 inch centers, the Trimco 553 Series drawer pull is also a 3 inch center-to-center part, and it comes from a commercial door hardware line rather than a decorative one, which is often the right call for institutional casework and shop millwork. Watch out for the Trimco 562 Series, which looks like a sibling but is built for 3-1/2 inch, 4 inch, and 96mm centers, so it will not land on 3 inch holes.

The Trimco 553 Series drawer pull is the direct 3 inch center to center match. Both the Schaub 730 and the Trimco 553 mount on the same 3 inch hole spacing, so either drops into existing 3 inch drilling without redrilling the drawer front. The difference is form: the Schaub 730 is a traditional cup pull, solid brass, 3-3/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch overall with a 1 inch projection, where the Trimco 553 is a drawer pull in its own 553 series profile. If the existing holes are 3 inch and the look is open to either shape, both land on the same bore.

The Schaub 730 is fixed at 3 inch center to center, so it will not reach 3-1/2 inch or 4 inch drilling. The Trimco 562 Series drawer pull is offered in 3-1/2 inch, 4 inch and 96mm center to center, which covers both of those bores from one series. On the modern side, the Omnia 1968/102 cabinet pull is a forged solid brass pull on 4 inch center to center spacing. For a kitchen where some fronts are 3 inch and some are wider, the Schaub 730 handles the 3 inch openings and the Trimco 562 covers the rest without any new holes.

One inch of projection off the face. That matters in a galley kitchen or a tight butler's pantry where a run of drawers faces an island, and it matters more on a cup pull than on a bar pull because your fingers hook underneath rather than wrapping around. One inch is enough clearance for a gloved hand on a utility or laundry cabinet.

Solid brass, cast through. That is the difference that shows up five years in on a rental turn or a hospitality property: zinc pot metal pulls crack at the screw boss and the plating lifts at the finger contact point, where a solid brass casting just wears. It also means the living finishes here, Antique Brass, Antique Light Brass and Polished Brass among them, patina rather than flake.

A cup pull like the Schaub 730 is a hand-under grip: you reach beneath the lip and pull. It reads traditional, it collects less towel-snag than a bar, and it works well on shallow to mid-depth drawers. A bar pull gives you a full-hand wrap and more leverage, which is what you want on a heavy pot drawer or a pull-out pantry. If you want that instead, the Emtek Bar Cabinet Pull in the Schaub Collection, or the Deltana SBP35 square bar pull in solid brass, cover the same job with a horizontal grip. Many kitchens run both: cups on drawers, bars or knobs on doors.

Not the same part. Schaub's Traditional Designs collection, which the 730 belongs to, and the Emtek SELECT and Alexander cabinet pulls sold under the Schaub Collection name are separate product lines with their own finish codes and castings. If you are extending an existing kitchen, match by taking a pull off a drawer and comparing the finish and the casting side by side rather than assuming the brand name carries across.

They are different pulls and the swap is not neutral. The Schaub 730 is a cup pull: the hand goes up under a closed cup, and it is a one-sided grip, so it is used on drawers and not on doors that swing. A Deltana SBP35 modern square bar pull or an Emtek Bar cabinet pull is a bar you can wrap a full hand around from either side, which works on doors and drawers alike. If the goal is matching an existing traditional cup layout, the bar pulls change the look and the grip; if the cabinetry is getting a modern treatment throughout, they are the alternative to look at.

A knob is a single-hole part and the Schaub 730 is a two-hole part on 3 inch centers, so it is not a straight swap on drilled fronts. The Orca Hardware Bachelor Collection round cabinet knob and round ring knob are both 1-1/4 inch diameter, and the Blackcomb Collection square knob is 25mm; each of those takes one center hole. Going from the 730 to a knob leaves the two 3 inch holes to fill and patch; going from knobs to the 730 means drilling two new holes. On new fronts either works, but on an existing run of drawers the hole pattern decides it.

The Schaub 730 sits at a 1 inch projection, which is a close cup profile against the drawer face. If the crew is working in gloves and wants more clearance behind the grip, the Omnia 1970 modern cabinet pull is forged solid brass at 1-1/4 inch projection, and the Omnia 1969 and Omnia 1971 are both forged solid brass at 1-3/16 inch projection. All three are open pulls rather than cups, so the hand goes through instead of under. For a maintenance-heavy multifamily or hospitality run where hands are gloved most of the day, that extra projection is the practical difference.

You can, but understand what a cup pull does on a door. The grip is a downward hook, so it works on a door that swings toward you with the pull on the leading stile, and it reads as a false-drawer detail on things like an appliance panel or a sink front. On a full-height pantry door most people go to a knob or a bar instead. Two hole pattern is the constraint either way: the 730 needs two holes on 3 inch centers, where a knob needs a single bore.

The Schaub 730 is solid brass through the body. Among the alternatives, the Deltana SBP35 square bar pull is heavy-duty solid brass, and the Omnia 1968/102, 1969, 1970 and 1971 cabinet pulls are forged solid brass. The Orca Hardware CK-12001 T-pull bar is steel in satin nickel with a 2 inch bar width. For a coastal property or a high-humidity kitchen where a specifier has called out brass, the Schaub, Deltana and Omnia parts meet that material call and the steel Orca bar is a different material spec.
