Schlage 03-042 RHO 626 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) I have Schlage Omega levers. Can I use the 03-042 rose on them?
No. Omega (OME) is the one lever design the 03-042 rose does not cover. Every other ALX and ND lever design does take it, including Athens, Rhodes, Sparta, Saturn, Latitude, Longitude, Boardwalk, Broadway and Tubular. Confirm the lever design stamped on the original lockset paperwork before ordering, because Omega is the exception that catches people out.
2) Does the Schlage 03-042 come with the lever and lock chassis, or is it the rose only?
Rose only. The 03-042 is the round trim plate that sits against the door face behind the lever, sold as a replacement part for ALX and ND Series lever locksets. No lever, chassis, latch or strike comes with it. It is what you order when a rose is bent, marked, or being changed to a different finish on a lock that is otherwise fine.
3) Is the Schlage 03-042 the inside rose or the outside rose?
Either side. The 03-042 is the outside/inside rose for ALX and ND levers, meaning the same part serves both faces of the door. Doing both sides of an opening takes two of them.
4) Will a Schlage 03-042 rose cover the mark left by the rose I am removing?
The 03-042 measures 3-7/16 inches in diameter, so it hides anything inside that circle and nothing outside it. If the door previously carried a larger rose or a full escutcheon plate, the paint ring or bare spot beyond 3-7/16 inches will still show once the new rose is on. Measure the existing mark before you commit on painted doors you do not want to touch up.
5) Which lever design do I specify when ordering a Schlage 03-042 rose?
Order it to match the lever design on the lock. Athens (ATH) and Rhodes (RHO) are the designations the 03-042 rose is sold under, each across the full finish range. The rose seats against the lever, so the design has to be the one going back on the door. If you do not have the original submittal, the lever design is usually identifiable from the lever shape itself.
6) What finishes does the Schlage 03-042 rose come in so it matches the ND levers already on my doors?
Ten finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 matte black, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, 626AM satin chrome antimicrobial and 643E aged bronze. Those numbers are the standard BHMA finish designations, so ordering the rose in the same number as the lever on the door gives you a match without eyeballing it. The rose itself is wrought brass, bronze or zinc, plated to the finish ordered.
7) Is there an antimicrobial rose available for Schlage ALX or ND levers in a healthcare corridor?
626AM, satin chrome antimicrobial, is one of the finishes the 03-042 rose is made in, in both the Athens and Rhodes lever designs. It is the same rose as the 626 satin chrome version with the antimicrobial finish applied, so it pairs with ALX and ND levers ordered in 626AM and keeps a standardized look where a facility has already specified that finish.
8) Can I put a Schlage 03-042 rose on a residential Schlage lever lock?
It is a commercial trim, cut for Schlage ALX and ND Series lever locksets. If the lock on the door belongs to a residential line, the 03-042 is not the rose for it. ALX and ND are the two families it fits, and within those it covers every lever design but Omega.
